ERRIN JONES has performed original works of theatre throughout the
US, at the "Africaen la memoria de America Festival" in
Santa Marta, Colombia, The Merlin Theatre inBudapest, and the "Od
Konfrontacje Teatralne" in Lublin, Poland. In New England, she
performed in the "13th Annual International Women's Playwriting
Festival," at Perishable Theatre, in Providence, and as an
avant-garde puppeteer and musical guest at "Blood From a
Turnip," Rhode Island's oldest puppet salon. Marya is a graduate
of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the
Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre where she toured
with the Dell'Arte Player's Company for four years. Marya has
performed her works at Dell'Arte's Edgefest, the Revolutions
International Theatre Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the
Magdelena USA Festival in Providence, Rhode Island. She writes, and
studies vocal creativity and the experimental use of the voice as a
means of expression and emotional liberation. As a founding
member of New
Mexico's Sol Arts, and a founding member of the physical theatre
ensemble, Workhorse. As a member of Workhorse, Marya co-authored and
composed music for the
company's gothic-inspired performance, "Sawbones: The Cabinet of
Dr. Jekyll," and the commedia dell'arte hybrid, "With Claws
and Beak," and performed at Brown University,
the Berkshire Fringe Festival, and HERE Arts Center in New York City.
Marya has directed full-scale performance works, among them,
"H2O" by the aerial/stilt/puppet ensemble Wise Fool New
Mexico and Susan-Lori Parks's "365 Days/365 Plays" at
Perishable Theatre. As an inaugural member of Perishable Theatre's
Resident Artist Program (RAPT). Marya devised a work entitled
"Absolute Brightness," a project that was awarded a Jim
Henson Foundation Seed Grant. Currently Marya is creating a new
show entitled, SEA & the Invalid Mariner, which will travel to
the Experimentica Festival at Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff, Wales,
in November 2009.
